What does the SURFboard Central app do? ›

The SURFboard Central app is designed to get the most out of your SURFboard device. Now with an updated UI for all our Cable Modem, Cable Gateways (Modem with integrated Wi-Fi) and mAX Mesh router devices. Use our App to get your device up and running and to securely and easily manage your network!

The ARRIS SURFboard Manager app offers users the ability to manage SURFboard Wi-Fi products directly from a mobile device. Once the mobile device is connected, the app can be used to view connected devices in the home network, manage parental controls and wireless networks.

Download the SURFboard Central app from the app store on an Apple or Android mobile device. Tap the SURFboard icon then tap the Get Started button. The Allow notification pop-up will appear. It is required to enable Location Services in the SURFboard Central app to perform first-time setup installation.

The Surfboard SBG6950AC2 is a DOCSIS 3.0 16x4 cable modem, Wave 2 AC1900 Dual Band Concurrent Wi-Fi Access Point and 4-Port Gigabit Ethernet Router, all wrapped up in one device.

The ARRIS home screen will appear. On the SURFboard Home screen, tap on the Devices icon in the Status section. The Network Map screen will appear. The Network Map screen will display a list of all connected devices.

Type in 8-digit PIN code, you can find it on the label at the bottom of the device. Click Next, the router will set a WPA2-Personal password for your wireless network automatically. You need remember the password. It is the key of your wireless network.

You will be taken to the Arris login screen, which will ask you for a username and password. By default, the Username should be admin, and the Password should be the Pre-Shared Key located on the modem's label to log in. NOTE: Subscribers logging into the DG-9450, please use the Wi-Fi PWD: word.

Why won t my Arris SURFboard modem connect to the Internet? ›

Rebooting an Arris modem is usually enough to resolve any issue with connecting to the Internet. Unplug your modem from the power source, wait for 1-2 minutes, and plug it back in. However, if rebooting doesn't solve the problem, you should check the cables for damage or reset to factory settings.

The modem will automatically power on when the power adapter is connected. After the modem is successfully connected to the network, the LED indicator illuminates a solid green or blue to indicate that the modem is online and fully operational.

WiFi Protected Setup (WPS)

If you have a device that supports WPS and would like to connect to your WiFi network using this method: Press the WPS button located on the top of the modem.

The SURFboard Parental Control feature provides the ability to create a rule to block specific client devices (e.g. computer, gaming console, tablet) from Internet access.

By changing your DNS to Safe Surfer, you can decide to block particular categories of websites. If a website is blocked, you'll receive the IP address of our block page instead of the website itself. You can also configure Safe Surfer to pretend blocked sites don't exist (NXDOMAIN) to make protection more invisible.
